Kari Wolf, MD presented to the Christian County Prevention Coalition about the opioid epidemic and how it came to get where it is today. Some of the topics she covered were:

• Trace phases of opioid epidemics in the United States and around the world with a focus on the current epidemic.
• Highlight the role the medical community plays in the current epidemic.
• Discuss future directions for combating opioid abuse.
• Discuss integration of treatment into the primary care model and support for recovery in a rural environment.
